Happy National Nursing Assistants Day!
Nursing assistants are vital to the operations and successes of the healthcare system. Because of this basic fact, nursing assistants deserve to be celebrated for all they do!
June 9, 2016 is National Nursing Assistants Day – a day we should all recognize and celebrate!
What Nursing Assistants Do
Nursing assistants dedicate their workdays to helping patients, just as registered nurses do. According to Scrubs Magazine, “[nursing assistants] assist patients with the activities of daily live (dressing, eating, bathing, toileting) and monitor vital signs, measure input and output and assist nurses with cares and procedures, such as dressing.”1
They are the extra set of hands nurses need, which makes the role they play in the healthcare field extremely vital.
Many nurses start their careers as nursing assistants, so whether you’re now a head nurse, an RN or still a nursing assistant yourself, take some time to celebrate National Nursing Assistants Day with nurses around you.
How to Show Appreciation
Showing appreciation for nursing assistants can be extremely easy. We suggest treating a nursing assistant to coffee, bringing some baked goodies to work for nursing assistants or even just verbally showing your appreciation! A small gesture can go a long way and make a large difference.
Whatever you decide to do, make sure you take time out of your day to show your appreciation and gratitude to the nursing assistants around you. They’ll appreciate it, we promise!
We’d love to extend a massive thanks to all of the nursing assistants out there for all they do! Your work is appreciated and needed more than you know – enjoy your day!
